LED status lights on your Asus router tell a lot about what’s going inside and out of your router device. From the main power LED light to the WPS, LAN, WLAN, and more, the status of each of the functions related to your Asus router can be obtained easily. Apart from telling the status, the LEDs also indicate issues using different colors or patterns of blinking. If you are noticing the Asus router light blinking for quite some time, it is a sign of some underlying issue. This blog will walk you through the information about the issue and the steps to troubleshoot the same.
Troubleshooting Asus router light blinking error
To resolve the light blinking issues, you can use Rescue Mode. And to do that, you can follow the steps mentioned:
- Go to the official Asus website and download the ASUS Rescue Mode utility.
- Click on Support and then select the Driver & Tools option.
- Select the OS option and then Utilities next.
- Find the Asus Rescue Mode Utility and click on the Global button to download the same.
- Once downloaded, install the same on your computer/device.
You can run the rescue utility to follow the on-screen steps and resolve related issues.
Alternatively, you can try changing the settings of your network adapter.
Changing Adapter Settings
Changing the network adapter settings manually will help it select the network server using the defined IP values. Here are some steps you can follow:
- Connect your computer to the wireless router using a wired connection.
- Click on the Start menu and then open the device Control Panel.
- Select Network and Internet from the menu and go to the Network Connections option.
- Here, select the Change Adapter Settings option and go to the LAN option.
- Right-click on the Properties button and then click on the Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) option.
- Again, click on the Properties button from the right.
- In the IP address and subnet mask fields, type 192.168.1.10 and 255.255.255.0 respectively.
- Finally, click on the Ok button and the changes will take effect.
If changing the adapter settings doesn’t help resolve the Asus router light blinking issue, you can try updating the router firmware version.
Restore the router firmware version
Issues with the router firmware can be the reason for issues with the Asus router. Here are some steps you can follow to update the firmware on your device:
- Unplug the wireless router from the power source.
- Hold the RESET button for about 5 seconds and replug the same into the power source.
- Release the reset button when the power LED begins to flash. This indicates that the router is now in Rescue Mode.
- Now, click on the Start Menu and select All Programs.
- Find the Asus utility, select the appropriate router model you are using and select the Firmware Restoration option.
- Type ‘Firmware Restoration’ in the Filename field and then click on the Browse button to select the firmware you wish to upload. Once selected, click on the Upload button and wait for about 60 seconds.
- When the power LED turns solid, press the RESET button again to restore the default settings.
Once you have changed these settings, you can change the network adapter settings back to “Obtain an IP address automatically”.
