For beginning know this – an AiMesh technology helps connect multiple or say two or more ASUS routers in order to extend the signal strength of your Wi-Fi. This high-end Asus router setup technology manages to feature conventional high-end routers to a mesh Wi-Fi system. This Asus AiMesh router system is helping build a more seamless, flexible, and convenient router mesh setup than ever before. So, you may enjoy a faster and wider network while it is cost-effective in nature. Hurrah to those who have already opted for it and those who haven’t gone for it; because ASUS AiMesh is not your ordinary router mesh system – it’s so much more.
Setting up Two Asus Routers as an AiMesh
The setting up of the AiMesh system is not at all difficult; it is as easy as mentioned in the steps below. Just follow them carefully. One major thing to take care of before you begin to set up an ASUS AiMesh –
- You must own two ASUS routers that support AiMesh
1 – Now, when you already own two ASUS routers that are powered to support AiMesh, then a router with better or, say, higher specifications must be assigned as AiMesh router, and another to be assigned as AiMesh node.
2 – Locate both of the routers within the distance of 1 to 3 meters; for an easy and hassle-free connection setup.
Upgrade the Firmware
3 – For this step, plug in the adapter to the power socket and press the back button of the router.
4 – Time to check the following lights if they are on or not–
- WAN Light
- 2.4GHz Light
- 5GHz Light
5 – Use your network cable in order to connect the computer/ system to the router—Run ASUS setup wizard link – http://router.asus.com/ in the browser.
6 – The link you just ran has a section called Administration -> Firmware Upgrade. Click on the check, and the firmware will automatically update itself.
7 – As the upgradation completes, reach the network map page, where you will see the AiMesh setup.
Restore AiMesh Node
Step 8 – For the beginning, press the reset button of the AiMesh node till the power LED indicator starts to blink. As the power LED blinks, then release the button.
Step 9 – Remove the network cable of the AiMesh node after the completion of the reset process. Keep the power on at standby mode till the AiMesh system is being set.
Note: Reset to default
AiMesh Router Setup
Step 10 – The modem needs to be plugged out of the power source; if it has any power backup remaining, then take out the battery. Then connect the modem by a network cable to the WAN port of the AiMesh router.
Step 11 – Check the following LED indicators to be on, so to know that the hardware is ready to be connected –
- WAN
- 2.4GHz
- 5GHz
Important – Furtherly, there are three ways to set up AiMesh further; one through Web GUI, second through ASUS router Android App and third by ASUS router iOS App. Let’s walk you by all three – one by one.
Web GUI setup method
- One Way: – Turn Off the Wi-Fi. Use a network cable to connect the AiMesh router to the PC. Lastly, use an Ethernet cable to PC with one of the LAN ports of the AiMesh router.
Second Way: – In case you want to connect via Wi-Fi, then search the network name of the AiMesh router and connect to it. The SSID is written on the back label of the AiMesh router.
- Run the link in the http://router.asus.com/ in the browser.
- Click the AiMesh icon mentioned on the Network Map page. Click on search; the system will search the AiMesh node automatically.
- Now you must be looking at the AiMesh Node; kindly add it to the AiMesh system.
Note: Both the AiMesh router and AiMesh node should be in the closer boundary to synchronize easily. If not, then move closer.
ASUS Router App Android method
- You must have already downloaded the ASUS Router App via Google Play. If not, then do.
- Look for the credentials of the AiMesh router and connect to it. In case you do not know, they are mentioned on the back label of the AiMesh router.
- Login to the App, go to AiMesh, and tap on Get Started. The application will automatically search for the AiMesh node.
- As the AiMesh page shows up, tap on the flashing option add to add the AiMesh node. The synchronization will start, and if it doesn’t, make sure to bring the AiMesh router and AiMesh node closer.
- The screen must be displaying a message of synchronization. Here your work is done, and time to enjoy your newly set up ASUS AiMesh router system.
- For further information – explore the option Devices mentioned at the bottom of the AiMesh page.
ASUS Router App iOS method
- Time to download and install the ASUS router app via App Store.
- Look for the credentials of the AiMesh router and connect to it. In case you do not know, they are mentioned on the back label of the AiMesh router.
- Login to the App, go to AiMesh, and tap on Get Started. AiMesh node will be automatically searched by the app.
- As the AiMesh page starts to show up, tap on the option add in order to add the AiMesh node. Synchronization must have begun by now.
- The message of synchronization must be displayed on the screen. That means both the AiMesh router and AiMesh node have been successfully synchronized.
- For further information – explore the option Devices mentioned at the bottom of the AiMesh page.
Last Step – Place the routers at the desirable location. For more information, click on the link http://router.asus.com/
Additional pieces of information
- You may add up to a maximum of 5 routers in the ASUS AiMesh setup. That means one AiMesh router and four AiMesh nodes.
- Add AiMesh node in between of AiMesh router and no Wi-Fi zone; for better coverage.
